Last week, 60 students from Annanhill Primary school visited our facility at the Burns Monument Centre in Kilmarnock. Ayrshire Archives participated in this outreach event with East Ayrshire Council Registration service and the Local History service which are also based at the Burns Monument Centre. Students were able to see behind the scenes of our state of the art archive store and learn more about the importance of archivists in preserving historically significant documents. We hope this event will inspire young minds to be interested in history and recognise the important part archives play in preserving history for future generations of researchers.
